WS Studios was designed by Liene Linke around this idea that every customer should feel like a ‘royalty at home’ when treating themselves to that confidence-boosting experience of a hair appointment.
Unlike the usual all-white and often cold aesthetic typically associated with beauty shops, this space is celebrated with a predominantly black colour palette. Black walls and ceilings provide a soothing backdrop to the space abundantly illuminated by the natural light, coming in through the large glazed shop frontage. Black furnishings, including six meters long, custom-made styling station with circular mirrors fixed onto table-top easels, add to the inconspicuous setting designed to highlight particular experiences. An injection of colour and greenery added to the waiting area instil a sense of lush oasis where meaning of time succumbs to the notion of enjoying the moment. A wash area with plush, forest green backwash chairs is positioned behind the styling stations, overlooking the entire shop floor, and, during treatment, directing the gaze on to the magnificent chandeliers adorning the ceiling. Crystal chandeliers at the top and rich parquet-like tiles on the floor set a luxurious tone for this drawing room-style space. White tulle curtains, hung across the entire store front, add a soft touch, and act as a veil of privacy, allowing just a suggestive glimpse both into and out of the salon.
