Originally designed by Liene Linke in 2013 for a hotel bar in Pisa, Italy, an updated version of the chess table was developed in 2018 to enrich an empty hallway pocket in a chess aficionado’s country house.
The surface of the table is reasonably sized (60 cm in diameter) for a comfortable gameplay yet compact enough to fit in the tightest of spaces. The table top is made of moulded plywood with honed onyx inlaid checkerboard, and two integrated drawers with velvet padding to securely store the chess pieces when not in use. The base is made of cylindrical tree stump parts framed within a stainless-steel structure. This is a rather heavy and sturdy item, designed to withstand the test of time.
